About Me
So you want to pick my brain?
Justin Oswalt
President
Adolescent Scoliosis Society of North America
Scoliosis Experience (in brief):  I have had scoliosis since I was about 2 resulting from scar tissue from a previous operation.  When I was in 3rd grade, I went to a specialist for the first time, and at that time, the curve was at 29 degrees.  By the time I was 14, it had progressed to about 61 degrees with a single curve.  On September 27th, 1999, I had the posterior spinal fusion to stop the progression of my scoliosis.  Since then, I have been trying to help other teens cope with their scoliosis treatment with this web site and my support group.

Schooling:  I am currently a senior at
East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.  I am majoring in nursing with a minor in biology.  I will be graduating with my BSN in nursing in December of 2008.

Carrer Plans: I change my mind of what kind of nursing I want to do on a daily basis.  Overall, I am planning to work with teenagers and older kids undergoing surgery, and (hopefully) ultimatly scoliosis patients.  My experiences with scoliosis patients through this support network have been great, and I see this carrer in adolescent surgical nursing as a way to continue that.

Intrests/Hobbies/Clubs: I love almost anything to do with medicine and medical stuff.  I also play ice hockey and love just about anything having to do with it.  I am also the Team Operations Manager of the East Carolina Ice Hockey Club Team, as well as representing ECU as an orientation assisntant durring freshmen orientation.
